PROJECTS
In the Fall of 2006, Arjan traveled through California, USA. He captured extensive images of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Death Valley, Yosemite, Golden Gate, Alcatraz, Getty Center, Hearst Castle, het Monterey Bay Aquarium en Napa Valley. The image vary greatly from nature and landscape to urban, people and architecture.
Arjan recorded a special photo series for WIT magazine about 24 hours In Las Vegas. For this feature, Arjan shot portrait images in one of the most famous wedding chapels, the Little White Wedding Chapel. This series was published in February 2007.
Also in February 2007, a Dutch magazine on professional photography, De Fotograaf, published an interview and portfolio about Arjan. The article has been written by Wim Broekman.
Again in 2006, Arjan received an Award of Honour in the Argus Photo Contest. This year the awarded image is the remarkable close-up of a fly feeding itself, that has been published earlier. In 2005, Arjan received the same award for one of his other images.
In February 2007, Arjan published an article in Grasduinen magazine about the ethics of flash photography on animals. Especially for nocturnal animals that live in the jungle, such as Dart Frogs. The article is illustrated with some of Arjan's images from his series of Costa Rica.
In 2006, Arjan worked at an extensive photo book about Waterland and the Beemster, regions in the Northwest of Holland. This book was published by WEAN publishing from Maastricht. For this project, Arjan also conducted 50 photo reports on companies working in this region.
For Rabobank, one of Holland's leading bank corporations, Arjan recorded a scenic photo series of the Waterland, Noord-Holland region. During this photography assignment, Arjan also photographed Rabobank offices and board members. Recently, Rabobank decorated a photo exhibition with Arjan's images of Waterland. Arjan now also works for other Rabobank branch offices in The Netherlands.
Arjan worked for Grasduinen Magazine on an assignment about nature and culture conservation. For this assignment, Arjan went to Landgoed Elswout, managed by Staatsbosbeheer, and Kasteel Waardenburg, managed by Stichting Geldersche Kastelen.
For Jellinek Stichting, Arjan produced the images for the 2005 Annual. Challenging theme of the images was 'Nature around Amsterdam'. The images illustrated texts written by the urban ecologist of the city of Amsterdam Remco Daalder.
Zorgcirkel Waterland, a healthcare company with 13 regional care centres, is also a client of Arjan's photography. For Zorgcirkel, Arjan photographed 100 celebrating employees, of which the images were publlished in a dedicated photo book. He also worked on photoshoots of several of their buildings, photographing the architecture as well as the interior.
Arjan has published photo work in the two leading Dutch magazines about Italy, called Italie Magazine and the Smaak van Italie magazine.
In 2005, Arjan has conducted a photo series for an architecture project in Liguria, Italy. Around New Years celebration he recorded a photo series in Venice. Arjan also worked on a photo report about the Lardo di Colonnata, a delicatesse from the Versilia region in Tuscany. Recently, he went to Lombardia to take photographs of the Italian Alps region.
Arjan works for an international hotel group based in Amsterdam, photographing their properties. He records the architecture as well as the interiors of hotels, rooms, lobbies and other facilities. Arjan has previously worked on shoots for hotels, villa's and mansions.
For the Amsterdam office of international law firm Allen & Overy, Arjan worked on a photo report of their office, The Apollo House. This remarkable building dates back from 1939 and still has many art-deco style details. Arjan produced a color as well as black and white image presentation.
Arjan worked on previous corporate assignments as well, doing photo shoots of in-company decors or documenting work processes.
In autumn 2005 Arjan went to Costa Rica where he recorded a magnificent photo series. Because of the huge-scale biodiversity and still pristine rain forests and could forests, Costa Rica is a true pearl of the Latin America region.
In 2004 and 2005, Arjan worked on several assignments of Stichting Duinbehoud.
In 2005 Arjan recorded the SAIL 2005 event in the port of Amsterdam. His images were published by online news magazines such as Nu.nl.
In 2004 Arjan produced a travel report on South-Africa. His images illustrate an overland journey from Capetown to Johannesburg. Images include places like Cape Point, Swaziland, Lesotho, Kruger Park, Addo Elephant Park, Hluhluwe Game Reserve, Drakensberg and Blyde River Canyon.
